The Advantage of an Independent Practice

Where you go for your eyes matters. Unlike large corporate vision chains that focus on volume, Newman LASIK Center is an independent private practice. We don't have corporate quotas or outside pressure. Every recommendation we give comes down to what is safest for your eyes and your lifestyle.

Dr. Leonard Newman leads our practice. As a Yale fellowship-trained corneal specialist, he has performed over 80,000 laser procedures across nearly two decades. Just as importantly, our core surgical and patient care team has worked together alongside Dr. Newman for over 20 years. That means you see the same familiar, experienced faces at every single appointment.

Custom Mapping and Treatment Options

No two eyes are shaped the same. To give you the sharpest visual outcome—especially when driving at night or in low light—we use detailed topography-assisted mapping. This captures thousands of unique points across your cornea to create a complete 3D blueprint of your eye.

Using this map, we figure out which approach makes the most sense for you:

  • Topography-Assisted LASIK: Instead of using an "average" prescription, custom LASIK reshapes your cornea based on your eye's unique landscape. It corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism with a fast, comfortable recovery.

  • PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy): Often called "no-flap" surgery, PRK treats the surface of the cornea directly. It is an ideal, tissue-preserving option for people with thinner corneas, unique eye shapes, or active jobs.

Our goal is to help you enjoy strong, reliable vision for 20–30 years of improved vision. To make your treatment even more accessible, we take $500 off the total price of your procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during my first consultation?

Your initial visit is a relaxed, thorough eye evaluation. We use precise mapping tools to check your corneal thickness and overall shape. Dr. Newman and our team walk you through the numbers, explain whether LASIK or PRK is the better fit, and answer your questions directly—no sales pitches, just medical facts.

How fast is the recovery after surgery?

It depends on the procedure. With LASIK, most people are back to driving and working the very next day, reaching approximately 80% corrected vision in 1–3 days. With PRK, the surface layer takes about 3 to 4 days to heal, reaching the same clear outcome once fully recovered.

Will I see the same team for my checkups?

Yes. Because we are an independent clinic, your pre-op mapping, your procedure, and all your post-op visits happen right here with Dr. Newman and our long-standing staff. We never hand you off to outside co-management networks.
